LUBE VENT BLOCK MODEL (Non-restricted vent)

INSTALLATION AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Lube Vent BLock is designed to be installed on the device to be greased by the outlet on the bottom of the Lube Vent Block

2. The bearing is greased through the grease fitting on the Lube Vent Block. The piston position (vent channel block) is controlled by the control valve and jam nut. For example, when set for NLGI greases the valve is usually open approximately 1.5 turns.

3. The excess grease will be vented through the outlet on the end of the Lube Vent Block.

4. Rolling element speed controls the maximum allowable amount of grease that will remain in the bearing.

5. The Lube Vent Block should be mounted on the side of the bearing housing between the top half and two thirds of the way up the grease cavity when possible. Fittings are 1/4 inch npt unless otherwise specified.

6. Recommended amount of grease replenishement is:
G = 0.005 * D * B
Where:
G = Quantity in grams
D = Bearing outside diameter in mm
B = Bearing width in mm
Lubrication interval is dependant on speed, ambient temperature, load to capacity ratio and exposure to contamination.
Note: For bearing operating temperature higher than 80 degrees C. the frequency of lubrication must be increased. A good rule of thumb is for every 10 deg. C. higher than 80 deg. C, reduce the interval by 1/1.5.
